Styling Forms with CSS
Is a HUGE pain in the ass, and definitely not worth the time it takes. Fieldsets look nice but still can’t provide the amount of granularity needed in a complex form.
So I went back to using a table for certain elements in Surveys. It’s only in two places, but I feel kinda guilty about it. Tables are for tabular data and it’s stretching more than a little to call the data I’m encapsulating inside them “tabular”. I suppose this late in the game I can’t be particularly picky with how stuff turns out. I have about two days to finish and there’s still some oddities lurking around that I need to stamp out.
Next step is to get this on depts in my homedir and see what kinda stuff blows up. Should be great fun, but I’m way too out of it for that to happen tonight.
I also upgraded my blog to the latest WordPress 1.6 nightly today in class. The new admin interface is certainly prettier and I can definitely appreciate the hiding of items that I don’t use very often. Something about it still doesn’t feel right though. Maybe it’s the HUGE fonts the WP guys love to use in some of their text input boxes. It looks so silly. Still, the new “Save and Continue Editing” is very cool. It actually renders the post in your current theme which makes checking for weirdness wicked easy. I’m also a big fan of the new photo uploading interface and the new theme browser.

Pat,
I was looking for contact info on your site, but I can’t find any. Sorry to abuse the comments on a recent post
Anyway, I have been working on some modifications to your WordPress plugin for ldap authentication for wp 1.5.2. I’ve added TLS support, anonymous binds (rather than binding as Directory Manager), and started tweaking some of the search attributes for iPlanet.
Would you be interested in any of these changes?
Also, I don’t see any licensing informaiton in the files (neither copyright by Pat Cavit or by WWU), and so I wasn’t sure if it would be alright with you if I offered a tarball of my changes from my own site (with, of course, credits to you).
Thanks!
Billy Gray
