Back at WWU
I’m back at Western and going through ResTek training for the fourth time. It is much the same as in previous years. Getting my head around the changes that have occurred this summer with Gordon and Alex having free range over CVS. Also collecting reported issues in surveys to fix in the next update that gets pushed out. After seeing Search in IE having fucked up buttons I think I’ll add that to my list as well!
The other thing I’d like to try is getting the Reset and Fonts packages from YUI into our shared header setup. Having whitespace reset on all elements and getting some standard cross-browser font sizes can’t hurt things at all in the realm of web development on multiple browsers. I want to take a look at some of the CSS that we use that gets a lot of real heavy usage since I think it has some scoping issues that have necessitated some strange workarounds. I’m also doing a bit of work on page load times using some neat tricks that I learned at my internship this summer. Shifting around where the JS is included and the like. Little things, but every little bit helps.
