How to Update
My gadget is yelling at me about an update!
Relax, it’s a little complicated looking but upgrading isn’t that difficult.
If you want to save your list of friends
- Start, then go to run
- Enter “%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\XboxFriends.gadget”
- Copy the persistentSettings.txt file somewhere (this is temporary, your desktop would be fine)
- Open the add gadgets panel, right click “Xbox Live Friends” and choose “Uninstall”
- Download the new version and install it: Xbox Live Friends Gadget Download
- Repeat step 2
- Move the persistentSettings.txt file from wherever you saved it to the folder you just opened
- Add the new Xbox Live Friends gadget to your sidebar/desktop, and it should have all of your previous gamertags ready to go.
If you don’t care about saving your list of friends
- Open the Add Gadgets Panel, right click “Xbox Live Friends” and choose “Uninstall”
- Download the new version and install it: Xbox Live Friends Gadget Download
That’s it!
